Microsoft just announced the amazing new Surface Studio, check out the video here Imagine using Pro Tools on this, I think it would be quiet amazing! You could think of it like a Slave Raven that actually runs Pro Tools and every other app since it is a Windows PC. The only issue I could image at this point is the Pro Tools interface is not built for touch. I have a Surface Pro 3 and it runs PT well, but to really get work done you still need the touch cover attached or an external mouse and keyboard.
Other DAW's however, like Bitwig and FL Studio are much more touch friendly out of the box. I would imagine someone could easily build a gui that wraps Pro Tools like the Raven does to make touch work better with Pro Tools. Either way, it's a good looking machine. Great concept. Is there a way to plug a HDX or HDN system into this? No PCIe slots. No Thunderbolt.
No HDX or HDN capability. And also disappointing USB 3.0 only, no USB 3.1 Gen 2. Microsoft saved a few dollars by not putting an Alpine Ridge chip in the box (they could gave ignored the Thunderbolt on that if they wanted and just used the USB 3.1 Gen 2).
Gen 2 would gave been nice for external SSD. Also no word yet on the internal SSD.
Hopefully it has M.2 NVMe but I'm not holding my breath. It seems to come only with hybrid HDD/SSD. Last thing I would want on a DAW. So close but no cigar.
